CMS is the primary internal tool used by the Anabatic Legal team to receive, review, approve, and close two types of legal requests: Cover Letters and Legal Service Requests.
A cover letter is a formal request created by a Sales / Business Unit (BU) that requires legal review. It travels through two sequential approval chains — BU approval first, then Legal approval — before reaching a terminal state.

| Template | All other templates | ❌ No — marked as complete |
| Non-template | — | ❌ No — marked as complete |
Rule summary: Only CDT (Central Data Technology) template cover letters enter DocuSign. Everything else — non-CDT templates and all non-templates — is marked as complete after legal approval.
| Actor | Action |
|---|---|
| Sales / BU staff | Creates the cover letter |
| BU approvers | Approve through BU line of approval |
| Legal team | Picks up or is assigned the cover letter from Legal Inbox |
| Legal assignee | Reviews and approves through Legal line of approval |
A general-purpose legal service request submitted directly by any requestor. Functions similarly to a Cover Letter but bypasses the BU approval stage — the request lands directly in the Legal Inbox.

| Concept | Description |
|---|---|
| Legal Inbox | Queue where items land after BU approval (Cover Letter) or directly from requestor (Legal Service Request). Legal team picks up or assigns from here. |
| Line of Approval | Sequential approval chain (BU-side or Legal-side). All approvers in the chain must approve before moving to the next stage. |
| DocuSign flow | Electronic signature flow triggered only for CDT (Central Data Technology) template cover letters after full legal approval. |
| Pickup / Assign | Legal team members can either self-assign (pickup) or assign a cover letter / LSR to a colleague from the inbox. |
